Please Keep Your Speaker & Program Suggestions Coming: Let’s Get the Conversation Started Now

Posted on February 22, 2010 by Tonia Ries | 0 comment(s)

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been getting some awesome speaker and content suggestions.  They include people who are using Twitter in a wide variety of industries and company sizes; all of them are people I’d love to talk to & learn from.  If you’ve made a speaker suggestion and haven’t heard back from us yet, it doesn’t mean that your idea hasn’t been heard–you may still get an invitation from us.  And, there are ways that you can start to share your story with the TWTRCON community now.

We wanted to share with you a little more about our process for recruiting speakers, where we are in the process, and ask you to start sharing your story in a number of ways now. (more…)

Planning the Agenda for TWTRCON NY

Posted on January 24, 2010 by Tonia Ries | 0 comment(s)

TWTRCON has become known for its focus on Twitter business case studies and speakers who have blazed new ground in managing real-time marketing, customer service, communications, fund-raising and sales strategies for their organization.

At TWTRCON NY, we plan to feature participants who represent brands, government and non-profit organizations from across a variety of industries and company sizes, and we really look forward to learning about some of the latest business applications they’ve found for Twitter and other real-time web technologies.

In addition to the business case studies, we also plan to zero in and get a little more technical in a couple of areas that we think will impact business strategies in the near future:  search and geo-location. (more…)

TWTRCON is going to New York!

Posted on January 20, 2010 by Tonia Ries | 0 comment(s)

We launched TWTRCON, the Twitter for Business Conference, in San Francisco, the home of the tech community that built the real-time web.  In DC, we talked about how the real-time revolution was transforming government, as well as business and non-profit organizations.  2010 is the year that Twitter will grow up and take its rightful place as an essential business tool, a tool that will, over time be embedded into many more business processes than we can now imagine.

We couldn’t think of a better place to have that conversation than New York, home of the global business community, and home to many of the world’s leading media organizations.

We are delighted that the Direct Marketing Association has offered to let us co-locate TWTRCON NY, which will be held June 14 at the Hilton New York, with their  Digital Marketing Days event.  The DMA, (more…)

Results of the TWTRCON DC Live Case Study with DonorsChoose.org

Posted on November 19, 2009 by Tonia Ries | 0 comment(s)

As a conference, we have been experimenting with new ideas and approaches on many levels, especially when it comes to incorporating the real-time web into the conference experience itself. One of our favorite experimental initiatives around TWTRCON, however, has been our partnerships with our non-profit partners: Operation Smile at TWTRCON SF, and DonorsChoose.org at TWTRCON DC.

For the DC event, we wanted to use the conference as a platform to create awareness and raise funds for DonorsChoose.org–while at the same time providing a learning opportunity for us and our attendees about how to orchestrate successful Twitter campaigns.

Here’s how it worked: TWTRCON purchased 300 DonorsChoose.org GivingCards, in $5 denominations, and distributed one to every TWTRCON DC 09 attendee, inserting the cards into the back of the badges. (more…)

blockrealestate Hey my cookie has pistachios on top @pistachio #twtrcon

So you kinda had to be there.

But even if you weren’t, you may enjoy the drama and suspense unfolding in this series of TWTRCON DC 09 tweets, and the mysterious ending.  Not to mention the fundamental lesson for all marketers: when all else fails, try the #cookiebribe.

It all started when we used the promise of Free Cookies as Reason Nr. 8 to attend TWTRCON.

Then the State Dept got involved …
